Window
and Roofing options for Energy
Efficiency -
One
of the best ways to conserve
energy and reduce utility expenses
is to build a home with the
highest quality materials.
Choice of windows plays a large
part in determining the cost
of maintaining a comfortable
temperature in your home. That’s
why we choose Hurd windows
and doors.
Hurd
still makes all their windows
and doors carefully and proudly
by hand, so they not only fit
better and look better, they
also perform better. Hurd Casement
Windows have a Design Pressure
(DP) rating of 55, are ENERGY
STAR rated with low argon gas
E-2, .050 extruded aluminum
clad exterior, and 4 9/16” solid furniture grade
wood jambs. And because they
are custom windows, there are
more options available. They
come in nine different wood species,
so you don’t have to settle
for pine windows in a maple den.
You can also choose between all
wood or aluminum clad wood windows.
There are also endless options
if you want transoms, sidelites,
or other geometric shapes, bay
or bow windows, single hung,
double hung, horizontal sliding,
awning, or casement windows.
Hurd offers divided lite options,
as well as grilles that come
removable or sealed between the
panes of glass. You’ll
also find a variety of options
for handles and locking mechanisms,
and with as many as eleven finishes
and unlimited custom colors to
choose from, you’ll be
able to match your décor
perfectly.
Hurd
also offers different options
in glass. So whether you’re
facing blazing sun or bitter
cold—or both—they
have the glass and glazing options
to match. In fact, instead of
choosing a single type of glass
for your entire home, you can
select your glass for each room
according to its exposure to
the elements. You’ll maximize
your comfort and energy efficiency
while blocking harmful UV rays.
In
Mid-western climates like ours,
where heat loss and heating costs
are the prime concern, they offer
the Climate Control™ option,
which delivers optimum thermal
performance to reduce heat transfer
in or out, making your home more
comfortable in both winter and
summer. Additionally, their new
ClimaGuard SPF glazing option
dramatically reduces fading,
and extends the useful life of
your furniture, floor and wall
coverings, photographs and even
window treatments because if
its ability to block 99.9% of
UV rays. While standard low-E
glass has a fade protection factor
of only 7, ClimaGuard SPF is
rated at an amazing 50+. And
since it’s clear, it minimizes
heating and cooling costs while
maximizing natural daylight.
No dark tints, no colored glass,
no shiny reflections.
