Tyvek Thermal Wrap & Attic Wrap™

DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ helps regulate the radiant energy of wall systems for increased comfort and reduced energy costs. In the winter, DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ helps keep radiant energy that accumulates in the wall sheathing from releasing to the exterior. In the summer, the metalized surface reflects radiant heat out of the wall, helping to keep the interior cooler. Reducing radiant heat flow through the wall system is particularly important at the studs, plate lines, joists and headers where conductive heat flow through the wall is the greatest. This not only saves energy and reduces heating and cooling costs, it also changes the dew point in the wall to help reduce the risk of condensation which can lead to mildew, mold, and wood rot in wall cavities. This is especially important to keep in mind in hot, humid climates where foil-faces sheathing and other radiant barriers are often installed on the exterior to reflect heat away from homes.

DuPont™ Tyvek® AtticWrap™ is a revolutionary breathable membrane that helps create an airtight seal to reduce air leakage and energy loss through the roof. With a unique, metalized surface that reflects heat and a breathable structure to protect against the damaging effects of moisture build-up, it helps keep attics warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and drier all year round. An airtight attic seals in warm air during the winter, increasing the overall performance of attic insulation. In the summer, an airtight attic stays cooler because the cooling ventilation air circulates directly beneath the roof sheathing, while the unique metalized surface reflects heat away from the attic. The result is a semi-conditioned attic space suitable for storage without concern of contamination. And because Tyvek AtticWrap™ creates an airtight attic, conditioned interior air is less likely to leak through the ceiling from the living space and into the attic. Tyvek AtticWrap™ also collects leaking water and channels it to the eaves where it can safely drain outside the home.
